The Hourglass January 3, 2004 A Publication of the Connecticut Grey Rugby Football Club This mid-winter's edition of The Hourglass is a special reminder of our many social obligations and a request to reply as appropriate. JAMMERS QUAD RUGBY MATCH We take on the Jammers on Saturday, January 17, at their home court at New Horizons Village in Unionville. Our uniform is Grey rugby jersey, shorts or sweat pants, and sneakers. If you have work gloves, bring them. Plan on getting to the gym by 8:30 a.m. Let Ed Carr, know if you will be playing. Let Bud Harvey, know if you can help him get the chairs together before the match. Directions: New Horizons Village is located in Unionville, just east of Routes 177 between Routes 4 and 6. Take I-84 (either direction) to exit 39. ANNUAL AWARDS BANQUET Our banquet will be held on Saturday, January 31 at the Waverly Tavern, 286 Maple Ave, Cheshire. You will be receiving your formal invitation shortly from President Johnson, but it's not to early to let Tony, know that you will be attending. 2003 AWARDS BALLOT If you haven't replied already, clip and send the following ballot to Dean Jorgensen, mailto:greylock5@prodigy.net, ASAP. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- CGRFC Fall 2003 Awards Ballot MVP - Forwards ___________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------------------- The "Falatyn Freight Train Award" is given to that individual whose performance, both on and off the pitch, best represents the hard-charging competitive spirit and love of the brotherhood of rugby that was so amply exemplified by John. The "Founders' Award" is presented on behalf of the founding members of the Grey to the club member whose year-in and year-out dedication to the club has fostered its present strength and helped to insure its continued success. CONNECTICUT SPECIAL OLYMPICS Let Tony, know if you can help officiate at the 2004 Winter Games on either of, or both, the 28th and 29th of February. 25th ANNIVERSARY HISTORY BOOK A reminder to start rummaging around the attic and send your club memorabilia (photos, old Hourglasses, etc.) to Tom Flynn, PO Box 503, Wallingford, CT 06492. 2003 DARWIN AWARD RUNNER-UP A man walked into a Louisiana Circle-K, put a $20 bill on the counter, and asked for change. When the clerk opened the cash drawer, the man pulled a gun and asked for all the cash in the register, which he clerk promptly provided. The man took the cash from the clerk and fled, leaving the $20 bill on the counter. The total amount of cash he got from the drawer? $15. (If someone points a gun at you and gives you money, was a crime committed?)
